The 2023 Hononegah Indians football team is looking to improve on the 7-3 record that included a 44-13 loss to Normal in round 1 of the IHSA playoffs. In the NIC 10 conference, Hono finished 4th with a 7-2 record.

The ’23 squad will be led by a group of seniors including QB Cole Warren and Northern Iowa commit Isiah Houi who will play both ways.

Head coach Brian Zimmerman and his staff will work to build a team that competes with the best of the NIC 10 conference. This season should see the same group of schools who will make Friday nights tough. Boylan returns a group of talented and tough players who are looking to repeat as the NIC 10 champs. Belvidere North and Guilford return players across the board who will give the coaches sleepless night preparing game plans to stop them.

Over 40 upperclassmen will look to get the Indians on top of the NIC 10 conference. The last time the Hononegah Indians have won the NIC 10 conference was 2021. That season Hono was 9-0 in conference and went 11-1.

Game one is at home against Jefferson on Friday, Aug 25, 2023. Kickoff is 7:15 p.m. Since 1969, Hononegah has played home games at Kelsey Field on the Rockton, IL campus.
